The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has directed an immediate investigation into allegations of bribery against EFCC officers made by popular Nigerian socialite, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky.
In a viral video shared by Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky, a former convict, claimed that certain EFCC officers had extorted N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges. The video has sparked widespread attention online.
In response, Olukoyede has assembled a team of investigators to thoroughly examine the accusations. The EFCC has also invited both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to appear at the Commission’s Lagos Directorate to assist in the investigation.
The EFCC assured the public that the probe would be transparent and the findings would be made public. The agency reiterated its commitment to integrity, professionalism, and accountability in handling the matter.
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed the Commission’s stance in a press statement issued on September 24, 2024.
