Edo State Election Under Fire: Allegations of Rigging and Vote Buying Emerge

Edo state

Tensions are escalating in Edo State as allegations of election rigging surface ahead of the governorship election. Viral reports indicate that in several polling units, 99.9% of voters allegedly cast their ballots for the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising eyebrows among locals who claim such results are implausible.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of malpractice, alleging that results were pre-written and votes were manipulated. Viral videos show locals reportedly selling their votes, with prices ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 Naira.

Prominent figures like Davido have voiced concerns, facing backlash from APC supporters. PDP’s Asue Ighodalo described this election as potentially the worst in Nigeria’s history, echoing widespread calls for electoral reform and questioning INEC’s credibility
