In a shocking revelation, controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has claimed that he never actually entered prison despite being sentenced to six months imprisonment for naira abuse. In a statement, he asserted:
“On my way to prison, my Godfather called and assured me I wouldn’t enter prison. He told me not to worry and said he would arrange an apartment near the prison and speak to the Comptroller General of Prisons in Abuja.”
This declaration comes amid ongoing investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into allegations of bribery involving Bobrisky. The EFCC has invited him to assist in their inquiries after he claimed in a viral video that some officials had accepted ₦15 million from him to drop money laundering charges.
Bobrisky was previously arraigned on multiple charges related to money laundering and naira abuse, for which he was convicted and sentenced to six months in jail without an option of fine. However, following an agreement with the EFCC, some charges were dropped.
The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that they are investigating Bobrisky’s bribery allegations against their officers. As the situation develops, many are left wondering about the implications of Bobrisky’s claims and the ongoing scrutiny from law enforcement.
As the controversial figure continues to navigate his legal challenges, his statements raise questions about accountability and the integrity of the justice system in Nigeria.
