The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of voting time in areas where the process started late during the Edo State governorship election. According to a press release from the Commission, while many polling units began on time, some locations experienced delays.
To ensure that no voter is disenfranchised, INEC emphasized that voting will continue beyond the official closing time in areas where voting commenced late. The process will remain open until all voters in the queue by 2:30 p.m. have cast their ballots.
Additionally, INEC has directed its Edo State office to provide backup power supply where necessary to ensure a smooth voting process.
This move aims to uphold voter rights and guarantee the transparency of the electoral process.
